I'm Melchor Bungalso — a software engineer with over 15 years of experience across web and mobile application development, automation scripts, and internal tooling.
JavaScript/Node.js is my main stack across the full spectrum, but I operate as a language-agnostic engineer who adapts to whatever technology the project requires.
My recent work has focused mostly on backend — some of the services behind Maya and Metrobank.
My professional start was PHP — Drupal, Magento, one CMS after another. Then NodeJS through ExpressJS in 2014, and it's been my main tool ever since.
Full-stack when a project needs it, backend by preference. I've completed React and React Native front ends, but the services behind them are where I do my best work.
Most recently that's meant the backend micro-services behind Metrobank and, before that, the payment processors at Maya (PayMaya) Philippines.
Quality comes before volume for me — I'd rather take the extra time to do it right than push something I'll pay for later. I take code review seriously and I follow coding standards. I question, I ask, I challenge — not to prove I'm right, but so the team ships something better, if not the best. I'm not always right; when I'm wrong, I learn.

Full-stack JS across Metrobank service apps, mostly backend micro-services. Took the team's code review and unit testing from ad-hoc to a written standard everyone ships against.
Owned payment-processor and internal services at Maya (PayMaya), and built the alerting that caught outages before customers reported them. Shipped React on Payments Web when the frontend needed hands.
Websites, AWS Lambdas and NodeJS scrapers for clients — including a web-socket rewrite that cut server request load.
Built CMSs, a POS management system and restaurant ordering apps. First real exposure to Docker, DevSecOps and Jest.
Phone-repair booking platform for customers, employees and admins, plus a customer app and automation scripts.
CMS-driven sites, an alcohol-auction platform and an online poker site — developing on Fedora Linux.
Internal HR/performance dashboards and deal-site scrapers with a presentation & validation portal for customers.
Email-alert & worklog systems, theme/module work and a product-image customizer — where it all started.
Engineering the backend tools, developer platforms, and automation that keep teams moving.
Browser extension that handled the local-dev login and auth flow, so the team stopped re-authenticating by hand every session.
Extendable NodeJS tool that pulled reporting out of JIRA on demand, built so new report types could be added without touching the core.
Proof-of-concept mock APIs that let frontend work continue against contracts before the real services were ready.

I don't chase certificates — most of what I can do came from the work itself, not an exam room. I keep this one because it's checked by someone other than me, and the scores still say something about how I think.
